Every small business has a story—why it started and why it keeps going. In the cleaning industry, the “why” has to be strong because it takes grit, resilience, and heart to keep showing up.
Hazelclean was founded in October 2019 by Emily, then a first-time mother living far from her family overseas. Wanting the flexibility to shape her own work life—and driven by a lifelong passion for cleanliness, organisation, and good old-fashioned hard work—she began her journey. What started as a one-woman business quickly grew through word-of-mouth, as clients noticed not just the sparkling results but also the personal touch behind every service.
As demand grew, Emily moved into building a team, naturally attracting like-minded women—many of them mothers—who valued the balance and community Hazelclean provides. Working closely with DES across Hobart, Hazelclean became not just a cleaning business but an employer of choice for women seeking meaningful, flexible work.
Almost six years on, Hazelclean has grown into a thriving team of 15+ incredible women, supported by a dedicated operations manager and commercial division.
Alongside this, Emily is now mum to three small girls—the ultimate reminder of why she keeps pushing forward.
At Hazelclean, we pride ourselves on being professional but never impersonal. We don’t just clean spaces—we care for the people who live and work within them.
